Towards a more energy-efficient tomorrow

12/31/2008
"How electrical industry will save the world" seminar, organised by the Finnish Electrical Wholesalers´ Federation (FEWF) and led by Sonepar Finland´s Managing Director Tapio Jouhki in November 2008, offered ammunition for professionals in the electrical industry to sell and to promote energy-efficient solutions.

The event at the Finnish Science Centre in Vantaa pooled together 120 industry experts, sales and marketing people as well as other key persons from the leading industry companies - such as ABB, Draka, Fagerhult, Glamox, Gycom, Nordic Aluminium, Osram, Philips and Schneider Electric - to hear the latest.

Experts have calculated that in 20 years´ time the global energy consumption will be more than one and a half times of what it is today at current rate of consumption. And this is despite the fact that over quarter of the world´s population still lives without electricity. This means that the importance of electricity and its portion of energy consumption will also continue to increase and the development cannot be held back even on environmental grounds.

As there are no means to impact on the quantity, one must make an impression on quality and to improve on electricity usage efficiency. Energy-sparing goods and solutions are the best way for the electrical industry to curb the climate change whilst new industry markets, products and solutions are being created.

The proportion of various systems and sets in all electrical installations will increase as comfort, safety and cost effectiveness take a leading role. More ecologically sound products are being launched by manufacturers who also do their best to make industry professionals acquainted with the new developments. The electrical wholesale trade does the same; our Blueway product range is a good example. In industry and commercial construction the message of energy efficiency has already been quite commendably received.

FEWF´s chairman, Sonepar Finland´s and SLO´s Managing Director Tapio Jouhki, noted in his speech:

- Regardless of the way it is produced, energy is most often used as electricity. The electrical field has already developed products that improve energy-efficiency and solutions that can be used to moderate the climate change. Now it is time for everyone in the electrical business to operate in an even closer partnership to make this information available to customers.

Sonepar Finland´s and SLO´s Managing Director Tapio Jouhki spoke on the subject "How electrical industry will save the world".

Here at Sonepar, the Blueway-labelled items in our product range highlight their energy-saving features as well as their recyclability, packing method, manufacturing materials and the item´s lifespan.  SB
